Easy Gift DIY: Gingerbread Syrup

Last year my sister and I made these gingerbread syrups for our friends and family, and they were a huge hit. They're so simple to do, and you can really add your own touch through the containers that you choose to gift them in. They can be used as coffee syrup, pancake syrup, or even syrups for cocktails! as a bonus, making them makes your house smell absolutely freaking incredible.

1 Tbsp. fresh ginger, grated*
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
5 cinnamon sticks
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
small handful peppercorns (optional)
1 liter water
250 ml. brown sugar
250 ml. granulated sugar
500 ml. molasses
*my family loves ginger, so if you're not such a ginger fan, reduce this by half.
Add all spices and toast in pot for 3-5 minutes over med-high heat. Add water, sugar, and molasses; bring to boil, then simmer until micture is thick and syrupy. Strain and cool, then separate into containers. refrigerate and gently shake before serving.
