A few weeks ago I read a post on Lark and Lace about picking yourself back up when things get shitty. It resonated with me, even though life was going pretty awesome for me at the time. Fast forward a week or so and something very upsetting turned my view fairly neatly on its head. If you've noticed that I haven't been posting much lately, that's because...I haven't been. Things got shitty and I've been taking the time to spend with my friends, because when the going gets tough, they are the ones that are always there for me. I'm picking myself back up, but its hard - and sometimes I feel like maybe Its too hard. But we all keep going, because we have to, and because one day it will completely be worth it.
I don't feel like posting my personal problems for everyone to read about, but I don't think its healthy to perpetuate the idea that we're perfect and don't have tough times in our life. Its so much easier to share the happy things, and the last thing you want to do when you fail or have your heart broken is post about it on the internets where everyone who pleases can see it...but I feel like we can really connect in times that aren't so perfect. So if you're going through a tough time, or you're feeling like you won't ever feel better, know that its perfectly okay to feel like complete crap sometimes. Feeling the feels is far better than pushing it down and pretending it isn't there. At the end of the day, the way we deal with hard times teaches us much about ourselves.
Sometimes the only thing you can do is make a cup of tea, and relish the things in life that make you happy.
