One Dress, Two Different Styles
How to Wear the Tartan Printed Dress

A vintage inspired tartan printed dress with a classic cut is actually a very versatile piece of clothing. You might think this could just be worn in a very classic, maybe even boring way, but you are wrong. It may look like you don’t have too many options because it’s just a buttoned down dress with long sleeves, but actually why can’t it be a cardigan instead of a dress? I thought it could be a great way to spice up some creativity around two totally different looks using the same piece of clothing.

Vintage inspired look  This is the simple way of wearing this dress as it is. I mixed it up with over the knee boots in dark red suede. To make it more classy, I wore my new dark blue fedora hat and a quilted crossbody bag. For more diversity, layering a suede fringed vest could have been a great option. As accessories are concerned, I resumed to just a gold toned watch instead of any other jewelry pieces.

Grunge Rebel
This is actually my favorite between the two. I feel it’s much more interesting and original. I picked a fringed tank top and a crocodile embosses leather-like skirt. To complete the look I wore some patent leather boots and added a cool dreads hairstyle. This surely got all the attention.

If you would ask me, I would just wear this dress as a coat or cardigan. The length is a bit too much for short people like me so layering it over a basic look is a better styling idea. Leather pants, ripped jeans or a casual mini dress are just a few option on how you could pair it up. For a fashion show or any other fancy event you can trick it a bit and get this dress as top. Close only 2 or 3 buttons and get some skinny leather pants under. For a more elegant touch, try satin or velvet flared trousers. Go for a deep cleavage and pick some thin chain necklaces with your birthstone pendants. A thin belt around the waist should always be the first choice.

So what do you think? Classic or grunge? Which is your style?
